The Illusion of A Revolution Won Is So Painful In Reality
Egypt is gripped by a wave of anger as symbols of Mubarak's corrupt regime are given get out of jail free cards. What is making the Egyptian population so angry? What is Upsetting Egypt SO MUCH Today? Is it Zakaria Azmi set free on a bail of 200 thousands pounds? Is it Hosni and Suzanne Mubarak getting an imminent pardon? Or is it the realization that all the sacrifices of the revolution did not bear the fruits hoped for.
Egyptians paid a very heavy price: more than a thousand Egyptians killed, and a minimal figure of 7000+ summarily tried in military courts that invariably sentence peaceful protesters to years in jail where beatings, torture and terrible conditions are a common occurrence.
Zbigniew Brzezinski sees Tahrir as a "collection of amorphous, uncertain aspirations," aside from the Muslim Brotherhood which, according to him, have a clear plan. Brzezinski sees the prospect of a military rule in Egypt that more or less responds to popular demands. Is this prediction based on fear of the events on the ground and how they will affect US interests, or on actual, observable facts? Either way, Brzezinski seems to think that Jan25 is a fait accomplit. However, Egyptian anger this week seems to point to a complete redo of the revolution.

The question is, will the international community finance a military takeover in Egypt despite massive public support for a democratic, civilian-run government?
Egypt has officially requested financial assistance from the International Monetary Fund to meet an expected $10 billion to $12 billion funding shortfall between now and June 2012, an IMF official said Thursday. "We are negotiating with IMF for loans of between $3-4 billion and with World Bank for about $2.2 billion," Finance Minister Samir Redwan said.
If these loans are granted, Egypt's Supreme Council of the Armed Forces will have been given a giant green light to dismiss Egyptians' grievances and continue to be a ruthless, controlling army instead of a loyal army.
The second wave of Egyptian Revolution is already scheduled for May 27.
