Maikel Nabil Speaks from Jail

We have received this letter directly from Maikel Nabil who asked us to publish it in case he does not get out of jail. As of Sunday, Nabil was in good state, but he suffers from a heart condition and high blood pressure. Nabil fears that he will not make it out of jail alive, and is expecting that they will torture him.

On Sunday night, Nabil was sentenced in absentia to three years in jail. Then he was immediately moved to the infamous Tora jail.

Why Did the Court not Face Nabil and his lawyers? Why hide behind closed doors and at night? Where is Rule of Law and Justice in Egypt?

Thoughts fleeing from the military prison by Maikel Nabil

In an unjust country, the natural place for the honorable ones is in prison .. Do not be sad, my friends, I am in the natural place.

I made a mistake while I was speaking at the Hisham Mubarak Center, when I announced that I will write the second part of my article: The Army and The People Were Never One Hand. But when I was arrested to prevent me from writing an article, then this is the greatest award I could receive in my life.

This is the seventh time I was arrested .. Twice in Syria, and twice at the hands of Egyptian police, and three times at the hands of the army ... How many more times is this required of me before I can live free?

In Mubarak's era, the detention occurred by an administrative decision, and now in the era of the Military Council, the imprisonment is by order of a military court.

Yesterday was April 9th, the second anniversary for our movement No to Compulsory Military Service .. I celebrated it with a bottle of juice and a few pieces of chocolate .. Why Egypt are you stealing from us our joy?

I am reminiscing the days of Mubarak and State Security ... I was never put in prison in the Mubarak era. And during his presidency, no State Security officer ever beat me or sexually harassed me!!

On the wall of the cell facing mine, a prisoner wrote, "This is by the Grace of God." Please God also do your grace as well on those who were killed and tortured, our brothers and sisters.

"You, the one who has a eagle, a bonnet and a cap, why do you love to imprison the youth? .. Make the prison wall higher & higher.. tomorrow the Revolution will rise and won't give up .." This I keep repeating inside the prison.

I feel they intend to harm me after the declaration of the verdict [I feel that there is an intention of hurting me after the issuance of the verdict.]... Do not believe any words anyone will say about suicide attempts .. The Military Council is responsible for my safety until I am released.

I thank all those who have shown solidarity with me .. Freedom has a price, I am paying the price in prison and you are paying for yours outside the prison.

خواطر هاربة من السجن الحربي

في الدولة الظالمة، يكون المكان الطبيعي للشرفاء هو السجن.. لا تحزنوا يا أصدقائي، أنا في المكان الطبيعي.

أخطأت حينما كنت في مركز هشام مبارك، و قلت أنني سوف أكتب جزء ثاني من مقالي ( الجيش و الشعب عمرهم ما كانوا أيد واحدة) و لكن حينما يتم القبض علي لمنعي من كتابة مقال فهذة أعظم شهادة يمكن أن أنالها في حياتي.

هذة سابع مرة يتم فيها القبض علي.. مرتان في سوريا، و مرتان علي يد الشرطة المصرية، و ثلاث مرات علي يد الجيش ... كم مرة أخري مطلوبة مني لكي أعيش حرا؟

في عهد مبارك كان الأعتقال يحدث بقرار أداري، و في عهد المجلس العسكري يتم الأعتقال بحكم محكمة عسكرية.

أمس 9 أبريل، كان عيد الميلاد الثاني لحركة لا للتجنيد الأجباري.. أحتفلت به بزجاجة عصير و بعض قطع الشيكولاتة.. لماذا يا مصر تسرقي مننا فرحتنا؟

أصبحت أترحم علي أيام مبارك و أمن الدولة... لم أدخل السجن أبدا في عهد مبارك، و لم يحدث أبدا أن قام ضابط أمن الدولة بضربي أو التحرش بي جنسيا!!

علي الزنزانة المواجهة لزنزانتي كتب أحد المساجين " هذا من فضل ربي" من فضلك يا الله، تفضل أيضا علي من قتلوا و عذبوا أخواتنا.

يا أبو نسر و طاقية و كاب غاوي ليه حبس الشباب؟ .. علي في سور السجن و علي، بكره الثورة تقوم ما تخلي.. هكذا أردد داخل السجن.

أشعر بنية لأيذائي بعد صدور الحكم... لا تصدقوا أي كلام يقولوه عن محاولات أنتحار.. المجلس العسكري مسئول عن سلامتي حتي الأفراج عني.

أشكر كل من تضامنوا معي .. الحرية لها ثمن، أنا أدفع الثمن داخل السجن و أنتم تدفعوه خارج السجن.
